WHERE WILL WE TAKE YOU
The area around Hotel Saint Roch offers some of France’s most breathtaking mountain landscapes, where nature and personal challenge meet.
As you navigate the trails of Parc National des Écrins, you’ll follow dramatic ridges, pass high-altitude lakes and refuges, and take in glacier views while tackling tough terrain.
The paths are unmarked, inviting you to rely on your own navigation—be it a map, smartphone, or watch. A Trail Book with the final routes, resupply points and .gpx routes will be sent ahead of the event.
At the checkpoints, you might discover pilgrim treasures—small, meaningful items to sustain you on this challenging journey.
STAGE 1 - July 2
-
In Stage 1, you’ll tackle the first trails of the Pays des Écrins, one of France’s most breathtaking natural areas. Winding paths lead steadily upward to the stage’s highest point, the Crête de Pendine, towering over 2,700 meters. Following the ridge, you’ll be rewarded with unparalleled views of the Écrins Massif.
From the Col du Bal, the trail descends into the secluded Narreyroux Valley—a serene, hidden gem surrounded by dramatic peaks. At the checkpoint, take a moment to pause and soak in the tranquil beauty of the valley. From there, the trail descends further, dropping below the treeline before a scenic traverse leads you back to the basecamp at Hotel Saint Roch.

Stage 2 takes you through the stunning Vallouise Valley. After descending into the valley, a long climb begins toward its namesake, Col de Vallouise, at 2,621 meters. From here, you’ll traverse desolate terrain, passing serene alpine lakes and enjoying the quiet beauty as you cross the Mont Brison Massif.
A new passage takes you along the dramatic foothills of the Tenailles de Montbrison, with views of Puy Saint Vincent across the valley. A descent brings you back into the lower elevations, followed by a final climb to the basecamp at Hotel Saint Roch.

Here, you stand at the base of Mont Pelvoux, a majestic mountain renowned for its sharp peaks. Following the trail upward, you’ll reach the refuge, where you’ll spend the night surrounded by alpine beauty.
The next morning begins with a descent from Refuge de Pelvoux, passing through the charming mountain village of Ailefroide. One final climb awaits, taking you to a viewpoint that offers a sweeping panorama of the trails you’ve traversed over the past days. Pilgrimage SUMMARY
-
No, the route is not marked. You are responsible for navigating using your own smartphone or gps-device.
-
Nobody said finding salvation was easy. Completing all three loops of Le Pilgrimage is a true test of endurance and resilience, with each loop covering long alpine distances and requiring 5-7 hours of running and hiking on average.
Participants must be prepared to navigate self-supported in mountainous terrain, carrying their own supplies.
This challenge demands the ability to complete multiple consecutive days on foot, each averaging 25-30 kilometers with 2,000 meters of elevation gain.
Experience in high-altitude or rugged terrain and the ability to handle challenging weather conditions are essential. -
This region is famous for it’s sun. Usually in July the weather is stable. But as always, in the mountains the weather is unpredictable so pack accordingly.
-
Under all circumstances, make sure to bring or carry: a whistle, headlamp, waterproof jacket, thermal layers, small first aid kit, emergency blanket and GPS device or map.
-
Stage 3 is so long that you’ll spend the night along the trail in a mountain refuge instead of returning to the hotel. The overnighter in the refuge is part of the package.
FAQ’s
-
Puy-Saint-Vincent is located near Briançon and the Italian border. We recommend traveling by train to Argentière-les-Écrins, the nearest station. The closest airport is Turin, while Marseille Airport also offers good rates. Of course, you can easily reach us by car.
-
Your package will include quite a lot, but what we don’t include are drinks, except the first two that will be on us at the finishers party.
-
Valid health insurance is required, and travel insurance with mountain coverage is essential, as the organization is not liable for any damages or injuries.
-
In keeping with the social spirit of the event, we ask all participants to share the basecamp experience, which means booking the full package is required.
-
It is not possible to bring your pet. There are sheep herds with guard dogs in the area, and, moreover, wolves roam the region as well.
